I just love jewelry. I started out making it for myself, then as gifts for family and friends. Because of much encouragement from my family, I have decided to sell it.
My name is Pam Hickam. I am 50 years old and have been married for 30 of those years to my husband, Bruce. I have two daughters, Danielle who is 28 and Katrina who is 22. They both nab some of my jewelry before I even get to think about selling it.
It is a wonderful feeling when I make a piece of jewelry that I feel is a creation from my heart. When something comes together just right, it is pure joy. For someone else to like what I make is an added bonus.
I am a secretary by day in a very hectic high school office. Some days I come home completely exhausted, but it energizes me when I sit down at my jewelry table, which by the way is a discarded table from the science department that I rescued when it was being replaced. It works great for my jewelry making station. It still has the names of students from long ago carved into the legs, but I like it that way. It has such character.
My goal is to make jewelry that makes people feel good when they are wearing it. Good like you used to feel when you were little and got that new pair of shoes or that pop bead necklace. Good like you felt in that new dress and your new Mary Janes and the lace trimmed anklets. My mother always bought me and my two sisters a new pair of white gloves to wear to church on Sunday morning. I felt really special. I want you to feel that special when you are wearing my jewelry.
I am very grateful for all of the blessings that God has given me. I want to share with others from the abundance that He has given me. I will donate 10% from every purchase to organizations that help those in need.
Each one should give as you have decided in your heart to give. You should not be sad when you give, and you should not give because you feel forced to give. God loves the person who gives happily. 2 Corinthians 9:7
